What is the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce?

  • An independent, non-profit member funded organization
  • Represents over 286 member companies representing thousands of workers in the Midland area
  • Operated by a staff of three, with over 400 volunteers
  • Our Board of Directors are drawn from the top leaders in the community

What does the Chamber do?

  • We bring area leaders together to tackle the tough questions of quality of life, education, housing, procurement and small business needs
  • Provide an active support of culture and diversity
  • Grow small and home based businesses to successful enterprises
  • Faciltate education and networking opportunities on areas that are of need and interest to our members
  • Establishe a forum of support and encouragement for women in business or in leadership roles
  • Create a place for development and mentorship for historically underutilized businesses

Why is the Chamber's focus on education so important?

  • Quality of life determines quality of jobs.
  • Strengthening education by engaging the business community increases workforce quality, teacher recruitment, high school completion, college bound citizens, and an effective community.

How do we make things happen?

Do you have to be Hispanic to be a member of the chamber?

  • No, the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is delighted to have members, partners and businesses from all cultures and nationalities to support in telling the true story of collaboration and leadership.

What's the difference between the Midland Chamber of Commerce (MCC) and the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MHCC)?

 

  • The MHCC’s primary focus is to be an advocate for small businesses.  The Midland Chamber focuses on large corporations and manufacturing companies.  This does not mean the MHCC does not welcome larger businesses in our membership; we feel that the large corporation and manufacturing companies provide value to our small business owners.   The MHCC and MCC work together in several projects for the betterment of the entire community.
Can the Chamber give me a grant to start a business?
 
  • No, but we can assist you in obtaining a loan through SBA Community Express Program or through local banks.
 
Do I have to be Hispanic and a Chamber member to participate in the Incubator Program?
 
  • No, the MHCC welcomes any nationalities and non-members to be a part of our program.
Why does the chamber not host more special events, such as parades, concerts and dances?
 
  • The MHCC is not a civic organization.  Our goal is to assist small businesses by providing services that will grow their business.
 
Does the Chamber provide social services?
 
  • No, but we can point you in the right direction should you need this type of assistance.
